India Lifts Wheat Export Ban, Paving Way for Increased Trade

The Indian government has lifted its ban on wheat exports, allowing domestic traders to ship their goods to foreign markets. This decision is expected to boost farmers' income and create new opportunities in international markets for the country's wheat-based products.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issued two notifications regarding this change, which have been implemented immediately. Wheat falling under specified HS codes will no longer be subject to export restrictions.

This decision includes Durum wheat, previously banned from exports but now placed in the 'free export' category. Other products like atta, sooji, and maida are also included in this new export category.
