India Lifts Wheat Export Curbs After Four Years

India has lifted export restrictions on specific wheat varieties after four years of curbs. The move, effective immediately, replaces the quota-based approach for certain types of wheat with a free export policy.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) amended the export policy for Durum Wheat and wheat under ITC HS 10019910, allowing their exports without earlier prohibition.

This decision comes after India prohibited wheat exports in May 2022 due to domestic availability concerns and rising prices. The government has since eased restrictions through export quotas this year.
