India Raises Ceiling Price for Natural Gas from Difficult Fields
The Indian government has increased the ceiling price for natural gas produced from difficult fields to $9.89 per MMBtu for six months starting October 1, 2026.
This move aims to provide relief to producers developing offshore gas resources, where production costs are higher than in mature onshore and legacy fields.
The previous ceiling was $8.90 per MMBtu, and the new price will apply to gas produced from deepwater, ultra-deepwater, and high-pressure, high-temperature discoveries between October 1, 2026 and March 31, 2027.
