India Raises CNG and PNG Prices Amid US-LNG Import Hike
CNG and PNG prices have increased in various cities across India, with Delhi's CNG price rising by nearly ₹10 per kg this year. The latest hike brings the current price to ₹86.98 per kg in Delhi. In Mumbai, MGL has hiked CNG prices from September 1, while PNG prices remain unchanged.
The commercial (19 kg) LPG cylinder rate stands at ₹2,747.50 in Delhi and ₹2,701 in Mumbai. The government is looking to diversify its energy sources by increasing domestic PNG connections and reducing subsidy expenditure. An incentive scheme has been approved for city gas distributors to promote the shift from LPG to piped gas.
India's reliance on LPG and LNG imports from the United States has increased amid disruptions in West Asia. Iran has threatened to retaliate against any new US attacks, warning that energy infrastructure across the Gulf is vulnerable. The conflict has pushed oil prices up near six-week highs.
