India Sets Minimum Support Prices for Rabi Crops at ₹90,962 Crore
The Indian government has approved the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for six Rabi crops for the 2027-28 season, involving an estimated payout of ₹90,962 crore to farmers.
The prices have been set at ₹2,610 per quintal for wheat and ₹2,286 per quintal for barley. For pulses and oilseeds, gram has been fixed at ₹5,958 per quintal, lentil (masoor) at ₹7,390 per quintal, rapeseed and mustard at ₹6,613 per quintal, and safflower will fetch ₹7,215 per quintal.
The Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) recommends these floors after evaluating production costs, inter-crop price parity, supply-demand dynamics, domestic and global market prices, alongside agricultural terms of trade and the broader economic impact.
