India Shrugs Off Global Storms with Resilient Economy

India's economy has shown remarkable resilience in the face of global challenges, growing at 7.8% between April and June this year, outpacing major economies such as the US, Britain, and China.

The growth is attributed to a combination of factors, including households continuing to spend, with sales of cars, two-wheelers, and tractors rising sharply, and businesses investing in new factories, machines, roads, and buildings.

Exports also grew 12% despite tariffs, led by engineering goods, electronics, and chemicals, while listed companies reported sales and profits up nearly 20%, and bank lending is growing at 19%.

The government's decision to not raise petrol and diesel prices when oil prices shot up has helped keep inflation in check, with the rate staying at 4.45% in July, despite a 58% increase in oil prices.
