India Turns to Russia for Record Oil Imports Amid Middle East Conflict
India has sharply increased its purchases of Russian oil, importing more than 2.6 million barrels per day in June and July, a record high that accounted for over half of the country's total oil imports.
This marks a significant shift from February, when India imported around 1 million barrels of Russian oil daily.
The increase is attributed to supply disruptions caused by the conflict in the Middle East, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the key routes for global energy shipments.
