India Unveils Massive Green Energy Plan and Wheat Price Hike
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has welcomed the Union Cabinet's approval of the Green Energy Corridor Phase-III (GEC-III) scheme and the hike in wheat Minimum Support Price (MSP).
The GEC-III scheme, which has an outlay of Rs 1.86 lakh crore, aims to strengthen power grids across states and UTs by evacuating 135 GW of renewable energy.
Modi said that the approval of the Green Energy Corridor will create more jobs in manufacturing, construction, and energy storage, while also pushing India's non-fossil capacity target of 900 GW by 2035.
The government has raised the MSP of wheat marginally by Rs 25 to Rs 2,610 per quintal for the 2027-28 rabi marketing year, while increasing support prices of pulses and oilseeds by up to Rs 675 per quintal.
