Indian Appliance Prices to Rise Up to 8% Ahead of Festive Season
As the festive season approaches in India, several appliance and consumer electronics companies have announced price hikes ranging from 5 to 8% effective October 1. This is the industry's third round of price increases in 2026, with manufacturers citing higher input costs due to sustained inflation in key materials such as copper, aluminium, steel, and crude oil derivatives.
According to sources, companies like Blue Star, Godrej Appliance, Haier, Daikin, and Super Plastronics have already announced or confirmed price hikes ranging from 4-10% across categories. Air-conditioner prices are set to rise by 5-8%, while some players are also increasing prices of washing machines, refrigerators, and LED TVs by 3-4%. Industry executives said the price revisions are unavoidable due to higher freight costs and currency exchange volatility.
While some companies fear the hike could affect festive demand, others believe the impact will be limited as dealers and distributors have already stocked inventory bought at older prices through pre-buying schemes in August and September. Haier India President NS Satish said the company plans to raise prices by around 5% on RAC from October 1 and may undertake further increases after Diwali and again in January if input costs continue to rise.
