Indian ATF Prices Surge Again: Will Domestic Airfares Follow?
The price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) in India has risen for the second time in two months, increasing by 5.46% on September 1, 2026.
The ATF price has now reached INR 121.28 per litre, up from INR 115 per litre in August.
This hike is attributed to global crude oil prices, which have surged above USD 91 (INR 8,639) per barrel due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East and concerns about supply disruptions across the Strait of Hormuz.
The Indian government reviews petroleum product rates every two weeks based on international crude and fuel prices. The next review is expected in mid-September.
