Indian Equity Markets Open in Red Amid Crude Oil Price Surge
The Indian equity markets opened in the red on Monday due to surging crude oil prices and geopolitical uncertainties.
The BSE Sensex tanked 730 points to 73,170.12 in early trade, while the Nifty dropped 231.50 points to 22,908.95.
Brent crude traded 2.27 per cent higher at USD 106.7 per barrel, making oil prices a dominant factor for global markets.
Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, an online trading and wealth-tech firm, noted that renewed geopolitical uncertainty and a rebound in crude oil prices weigh on investor sentiment.
