Indian Gold and Silver Prices Plummet Across Major Cities
India's gold and silver markets experienced a decline in prices across major cities on September 29, 2026. The slump was observed after the previous day's drop, with bullion rates easing in key metropolises.
The latest city-wise updates revealed that 24-carat gold was quoted at ₹14,880 per gram in Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune. Delhi stood slightly higher at ₹14,895 per gram, while Chennai reached ₹14,908 per gram.
In the 22-carat category, gold prices hovered around ₹13,640 per gram in several cities, with Delhi and Chennai trading at a marginally higher rate of ₹13,655 and ₹13,665 respectively. The 18-carat rate was listed at ₹11,160 per gram across most cities, although Chennai remained at ₹11,435 per gram.
Silver also showed signs of weakness, albeit with a relatively mild decline. The metal was priced around ₹2,39,900 per kilogram in major cities, equivalent to about ₹239.90 per gram. However, Chennai and Hyderabad quoted slightly firmer prices at approximately ₹2,44,900 per kilogram.
Market analysts attributed the weakness in precious metals to global price movements, currency fluctuations, and local demand trends. According to reports, gold and silver prices are influenced by international market cues, changing rupee-dollar dynamics, and seasonal buying patterns in domestic markets.
