Indian Gold and Silver Prices Surge Amid Central Bank Buying
India's gold and silver prices have surged on September 18, according to data from the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA). The price of 24-carat gold increased by Rs 1,809 per 10 grams to reach Rs 1.54 lakh, while silver gained Rs 6,474 per kg to touch Rs 2.36 lakh.
Compared to the previous day's prices, gold has risen significantly since the beginning of 2026. On December 31, 2025, a 10-gram bar of gold was priced at around Rs 1.33 lakh, representing an increase of about Rs 21,000.
A market expert noted that gold continues to receive support from retail investors and central banks, including the Reserve Bank of India, which have been buying the precious metal. This support could lead to further upward movement in gold prices, with a potential target of Rs 1.70 lakh per 10 grams by December.
