Indian Gold Prices Plummet Amid Market Fluctuations
Gold and silver prices in India took a hit on Monday, September 21, as per the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA). The price of 24-carat gold dropped by Rs 671 to Rs 1,53,056 per 10 grams. Silver also declined by Rs 2,346 to Rs 2.35 lakh per kilogram.
The current prices for different carats of gold are: 24-carat (Rs 1,53,056), 22-carat (Rs 1,40,199), 18-carat (Rs 1,14,792), and 14-carat (Rs 89,538) per 10 grams. In major cities, the 24-carat gold rate for 10 grams was different: Rs 1,55,830 in Delhi and Jaipur, Rs 1,55,680 in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Raipur, and Rs 1,55,730 in Bhopal, Patna, and Ahmedabad.
Looking at the bigger picture, gold prices have increased significantly this year. From December 31, 2025, when the price was around Rs 1.33 lakh per 10 grams, it has now reached Rs 1.53 lakh, a rise of approximately Rs 20,000. The precious metal even touched an all-time high of Rs 1.76 lakh per 10 grams on January 29.
A market expert in Patna believes that gold continues to receive support from retail investors and central banks, including the Reserve Bank of India, which have been purchasing the precious metal. The expert expects gold to maintain its upward momentum due to prevailing market conditions and estimates that it could reach Rs 1.70 lakh per 10 grams by December.
