Indian Gold Prices Rise on Monday, Chennai Sees Significant Rebound
Gold prices in India continued their upward trend on Monday, with 24K gold reaching ₹1,55,680 per 10 grams. This marks a gain of roughly ₹1,260 per 10 grams within the first hour of trade, adding to the sharp national rally seen at the opening. The 22K gold price climbed to ₹1,42,700 per 10 grams and 18K gold moved up to ₹1,16,760 per 10 grams in most cities.
Chennai staged a significant move, with its 24K rate rebounding by roughly ₹2,850 per 10 grams within the hour to reclaim ₹1,55,680, fully back in line with the national rate. Dealers attributed this to sustained overseas buying interest and the extension of Monday's rally, pointing to a softer US dollar and easing Treasury yields as contributing factors.
Physical demand at jewellery counters has continued to build through the week, with retailers reporting steady footfall for coins, light everyday jewellery, and wedding-season pieces. Jewellers expect demand to keep climbing through the coming fortnight, although some buyers may choose to wait for the session to settle before making larger purchases.
