Indian Markets Dive on Brent Crude Surge and US Treasury Yield Rise

Indian markets took a hit on September 15, 2026, as Brent crude prices surged past $107 per barrel and US 10-year Treasury yields crossed the 5% mark.

The Nifty 50 index declined 279.5 points, or 1.19%, to close at 23,118.60, while the BSE Sensex fell 777.94 points, or 1.04%, ending the day at 74,003.82.

The selling pressure was widespread, extending beyond large-cap stocks, with mid-cap and small-cap indices facing heavier losses compared to the benchmark indices.

The India VIX climbed over 9% during the session, signaling higher volatility in the near term.
