Indian Markets Open Flat Amid Crude Oil Surge
Indian equity markets opened flat on Wednesday as crude oil prices surged to nearly $92 per barrel amid rising tensions in the Middle East. The Sensex started at 77,218.05, down 17.41 points or 0.02 percent from the previous close, while the Nifty began trading at 24,152.05, with a decline of 2.85 points or 0.01 percent.
The ongoing weakness in the market is largely attributed to increasing crude oil prices and higher global bond yields. Market experts attribute this trend to the uncertainty surrounding the Middle East conflict, which has pushed crude prices higher, raising concerns over inflation and putting upward pressure on bond yields. The US 30-year bond yield has reached its highest level since 2007.
Despite these challenges, Indian markets remain resilient due to strong domestic fundamentals, improving GDP and earnings growth prospects for FY27, and robust domestic liquidity. Market experts suggest that long-term investors could use the current weakness to accumulate quality growth stocks, particularly in the mid- and small-cap segments.
