Indian Markets Slide Amid Rising Crude Oil Prices
Stock markets in India experienced early losses on Wednesday due to rising crude oil prices. The Sensex, which tracks the performance of 30 leading companies, dropped by 35.99 points to reach 78,097.31. The Nifty, a gauge of 50 major stocks, also declined, falling by 31.15 points to 24,444.55.
The decline in oil prices weighed heavily on investors' sentiment, with Brent crude trading at $90.01 per barrel, a 1.24% increase from the previous day. This rise in oil prices is a concern for markets as it can lead to higher inflation and reduced consumer spending power.
Despite this downturn, some sectors such as banking and technology showed resilience, with State Bank of India, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, and Asian Paints performing well.
