Indian Stock Market Indices Rise on Crude Oil Price Dip and Foreign Fund Inflows
The Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty, began the trading day on Wednesday (August 5, 2026) with a positive trend following a decline in crude oil prices.
According to exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought equities worth ₹2,446.47 crore on Tuesday.
The Sensex rose by 397.59 points to 78,826.54 in early trade, while the Nifty climbed by 62.7 points to 24,677.60.
Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, traded 1.16% lower at $78.44 per barrel.
V.K. Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments Limited, attributed the market's positive trend to the sharp dip in Brent crude prices below $80 and record closing in U.S. markets.
