Indian Stock Market Sees Significant Gains Amid Easing Oil Prices
The Indian stock market rebounded on Wednesday amid easing crude oil prices and hopes of de-escalation in West Asia. The Sensex rose by 299.17 points, or 0.40 percent, to settle at 74,828.25. The Nifty was up 117.80 points, or 0.50 percent, to end at 23,446.80.
The major winners among the 30 Sensex firms were Tata Steel, Bajaj Finance, ITC, UltraTech Cement, Power Grid, and Larsen & Toubro. The laggards included HCLTech, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, Titan, and Mahindra & Mahindra.
Brent crude edged up 0.35 percent to USD 99.60 per barrel. Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, attributed the market's rise to a more constructive geopolitical backdrop, softer oil prices, and stronger domestic growth expectations.
