Indian Stock Market Set to Open Lower Amid Rising Oil Prices and Middle East Tensions
Global markets are facing increased volatility due to rising Brent crude oil prices and escalating tensions in the Middle East. On Friday, August 7th, the Indian stock market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 are expected to open lower.
The Gift Nifty is trading at around 24,651.5, a discount of 88 points from its previous close. This suggests a weak start for the day's trading session.
Oil prices have extended their rally, with Brent crude futures rising 1.2% to $83.48 a barrel and US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gaining 1.1% to $78.84 a barrel.
The potential disruption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has added to investor concerns. Iran is considering legislation that would prohibit hostile vessels from transiting the strait, while Oman is negotiating for transit fees and the US continues to advocate for unrestricted passage.
