Indian Stocks Flat as Oil Prices Surge Amid Geopolitical Tensions
The Indian stock market benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open flat on Wednesday. Asian markets opened mixed, while US stock futures fell for a second session straight.
The previous day saw the Indian stock market close sharply lower as investors booked profits amid rising oil prices and geopolitical uncertainty. The Sensex declined 388 points, or 0.49%, to settle at 78,154.25, while the Nifty 50 dropped 112 points, or 0.46%, to close at 24,471.70.
Ajit Mishra of Religare Broking noted that investor sentiment remained subdued due to renewed concerns over imported inflation and corporate margins, as well as weak global cues and profit booking following the recent rally.
