Indian Stocks Plummet Amid Crude Oil Surge and Geopolitical Tensions
The Indian stock market experienced a sharp decline on Monday, with the benchmark Sensex plummeting 1,124 points to a six-month low and the Nifty closing below 22,800.
The collapse was attributed to surging crude oil prices, geopolitical uncertainties, and weak global trends that triggered selling in various sectors, including financials, PSU banks, metals, FMCG, oil & gas, and auto shares.
Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, jumped 3.81% to $108.30 per barrel, raising concerns over inflation and India's import bill.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 3,693.93 crore on Friday, further contributing to the market's downturn.
