The Indian stock market is set for a positive start on Monday, August 31, with the GIFT Nifty futures trading 0.35 per cent higher at 24,175.65 around 7:26 AM.

However, the trend in Asian markets was largely negative following Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole speech, which signaled that persistent inflation could push the Fed toward a rate hike.

This had an impact on global markets, with Japan's Nikkei falling 1.84 per cent, South Korea's Kospi shedding 2.20 per cent, and Australia's S&P/ASX200 rising just 0.10 per cent.

In the US, the benchmark indices reflected pressure, with the Nasdaq closing 0.70 per cent lower, the S&P 500 falling 0.25 per cent, and the Dow Jones losing 0.02 per cent at Friday's close.

Despite this, oil markets saw a boost, with Brent and WTI crude futures rising 2.24 per cent and 2.04 per cent to $90.07 and $85.11 respectively.
