India's First LNG Train Rolled Out in Gujarat
Union Home Minister Amit Shah flagged off India's first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) train from Sabarmati station in Gujarat on September 28, 2026. This significant milestone marks a major step forward for India's rail network as the country transitions to cleaner and more efficient energy sources.
The LNG train was just one of several railway projects costing over Rs 1500 crore that Shah inaugurated or laid foundation stones for during his visit. These initiatives include line doubling works, the Kavach train protection system, automatic signalling systems, and a WAG-12 electric locomotive maintenance shed.
