India's Fuel Prices Unchanged Amid Global Market Volatility
Petrol and diesel prices in India remained unchanged on August 1, despite global market volatility. Brent crude oil prices rose to around $88 per barrel due to supply concerns linked to geopolitical tensions and shipping disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz.
The stability in domestic pump prices is a result of oil marketing companies maintaining existing rates while monitoring global developments. Retail fuel rates continue to reflect the last major revision announced on May 25, with only marginal city-level variations caused by local taxes and transportation costs.
Brent crude's biggest monthly gain since March has not yet impacted retail fuel prices in India. The Union Cabinet's approval of the National Offshore Exploration Scheme, 'Samudra Manthan' aims to strengthen India's long-term energy security by boosting domestic oil and gas production.
