India's Gold Prices Remain Volatile Ahead of Diwali and Dhanteras
Gold prices in India remain volatile ahead of Diwali and Dhanteras, key occasions for gold purchases. The latest average retail indicators put 24-karat gold at around ₹14,918 per gram, while 22-karat gold is around ₹13,675 per gram. Eighteen-karat gold is currently around ₹11,189 per gram.
The movement comes after gold prices reached elevated levels globally, with the precious metal facing periods of correction and volatility amid geopolitical tensions, crude oil prices, interest-rate expectations, and broader financial-market uncertainty.
Indian buyers traditionally increase their demand for gold during the festive season. Dhanteras and Diwali are considered auspicious occasions for gold purchases, while the wedding season also supports demand for jewelry, coins, and bullion.
