India's LPG Gas Cylinders and PNG Rules Get Major Overhaul
The Indian government and oil marketing companies (OMCs) have implemented new rules for LPG gas cylinders and piped natural gas (PNG). The changes include online bookings, new cylinder launches, and surrendering LPG rules.
BPCL has launched Bharatgas Lite ZIP, a premium Free Trade LPG offering designed to provide instant delivery. This service is currently available in Mumbai and will be rolled out in 100 cities across 24 states by August 15, 2026.
HPCL has tied up with Swiggy to launch HP Navya cylinder, which can be purchased on the Instamart platform. The 10-kg composite LPG cylinder is available for delivery via Swiggy in Bengaluru.
The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) has reduced the number of LPG refills to four per year from nine. This change aims to enhance targeting efficiency and ensure prudent rationalization of subsidy expenditure.
LPG cylinder prices for household consumers have remained unchanged in July 2026, while commercial LPG cylinder prices were trimmed for the first time this year.
