India's LPG Output Surges Amid Festive Demand and Regional Tensions

India's liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production increased by 20% in September, reaching an average of 44,000 tons per day. This surge is largely due to the country's entry into its festive season, which typically sees a rise in demand for LPG. However, imports from the Middle East remain constrained, with India diversifying its supply sources towards the United States and Africa.

The UAE has expanded its exports of crude oil and products despite the ongoing conflict in the region, managing to bypass the Strait of Hormuz by using pipelines and smaller vessels. This has allowed ADNOC, the UAE's largest LPG supplier, to maintain its commitment to delivering contracted volumes to Indian buyers.

About 60% of Indian households rely on LPG as their primary cooking fuel, making it a crucial energy commodity for the country. The blockage at the Strait of Hormuz had previously led to demand destruction in India, but with ADNOC's continued support, LPG demand is expected to remain below last year's levels due to industrial sector constraints.
