Retail gold prices in India have dropped on September 5th, providing some relief to household buyers. This decrease follows a volatile trading week and is partly due to the strengthening of the Indian rupee against the US dollar.

The price of high-purity 24-karat gold has decreased by ₹186 from the previous rate to ₹15,480 per gram, while standard 22-karat gold's price has dropped by ₹170 to ₹14,190 per gram. For those looking at 18-karat gold, the price has declined by ₹139 to ₹11,610 per gram.

The prices vary across regions due to local market factors, with Chennai registering the highest prices in the country for all three types of gold. However, key gold-consuming regions such as Kerala and major cities like Mumbai and Delhi share identical pricing levels.
