Indonesia Considers Consolidating Coal and Gas Supply with New Energy Agency

Indonesia's government is considering the establishment of an Energy Sector Public Service Agency (BLU Energi) to oversee coal and natural gas supply for power plants. According to a draft Presidential Regulation circulated in August, BLU Energi would be responsible for planning, procurement, and distribution to ensure continuity of supply. The proposal aims to strengthen energy security, improve supply efficiency, and optimize domestic resources.

The draft regulation remains under discussion and has not yet been approved. If implemented, BLU Energi would consolidate coal and gas supply chains, reducing the complexity and risks associated with multiple stakeholders involved in the process.
