Indonesia Energy Celebrates Oil Production at K-29 Well and Plans Deeper WK-5 Drilling
Indonesia Energy Corporation (INDO) celebrated the start of oil production from its K-29 well in Sumatra, with President Frank Ingriselli leading a delegation to the site in early October 2026. The company is now preparing to drill the nearby WK-5 well, which is expected to be spudded by the end of the month. The WK-5 well will be significantly deeper than K-29, targeting a depth of approximately 5,200 feet compared to K-29's 3,400 feet.
The WK-5 well is designed to test additional geological formations identified through IEC's extensive 3-D seismic program, including a potential natural gas-bearing formation. Both K-29 and WK-5 are located within the company's 63,000-acre Kruh Block on the island of Sumatra. The same rig used to drill K-29 is being assembled for the WK-5 well, with site setup already underway.
In a recent press release, IEC highlighted the progress at both well sites, including a video showing oil production from K-29 and the delegation's visit to WK-5. The company also noted that President Frank Ingriselli and IEC were featured in a recent CNBC interview, though the specifics of that interview were not detailed in the report.
