Indonesia Prepares 2 Million Hectares for Bioethanol Feedstock

The Indonesian government is preparing up to 2 million hectares of land for bioethanol feedstock, with sugarcane, cassava, and corn identified as key crops.

Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that the government will prioritize securing raw material supplies before expanding bioethanol processing facilities nationwide. He emphasized that reliable feedstock availability is crucial to attracting investment.

The planned development could involve state-owned enterprises and private companies, with the government preparing the land while private investors provide funding for processing facilities. The minister estimated that 70% of the funding will come from the private sector, with 30% from state-owned enterprises.
