Indonesia Targets $63 Billion in Food Exports by 2029 Amid Global Market Push
Indonesia's Ministry of Industry is urging the national food and beverage industry to increase its competitiveness in the global market. The ministry aims to strengthen Indonesia's position in the value chain by accelerating downstreaming, increasing the added value of local raw materials, and improving product quality standards and innovation.
The ministry believes that the industry needs to adapt to changing consumer demands, particularly regarding health, food safety, quality, and sustainability. To achieve this, the ministry is strengthening the implementation of mandatory Indonesian National Standards (SNI) for several strategic food products, including wheat flour, bottled drinking water, palm cooking oil, instant coffee, cocoa powder, and refined crystal sugar.
The government targets Indonesian F&B product exports to reach $63.08 billion by 2029, with an average growth of 10.9% per year. To achieve this goal, the ministry is encouraging industry players to connect Indonesian resources and markets with technology, innovation, and international networks.
