Inflation Reasserts Itself: Diesel Costs Soar, Copper Hits Record High
Peter Schiff recently discussed inflation on the Redacted podcast and emphasized that it has never gone away. He pointed out how diesel costs are affecting him personally in Puerto Rico, with prices increasing due to higher demand for fuel.
Schiff also highlighted the record run of copper prices, which have risen by 60% since Trump took office. However, when adjusted for gold, copper remains relatively cheap, indicating that it's the value of the dollar that's actually decreasing, not commodity prices.
The Federal Reserve's efforts to combat inflation are seen as toothless by Schiff, who believes they're too little, too late and would only serve to crush the economy if implemented in a meaningful way. He also criticized the artificial intelligence spending boom for pushing up borrowing costs and energy prices.
