Iran Blocks Direct Talks with US, Negotiates with Oman Over Strait of Hormuz

The Iranian government has confirmed that it is holding talks with Oman over issues related to the Strait of Hormuz, but denied engaging in direct negotiations with the United States.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that while discussions with Oman are ongoing, reaching an agreement would not be sufficient to reopen the Strait without addressing broader security concerns.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical maritime chokepoint connecting the Persian Gulf with the Arabian Sea and serves as a primary export route for crude oil and liquefied natural gas.
