Iran Conflict Drives Record Shipping Costs for US Crude Oil

The escalating conflict in Iran has led to a surge in shipping costs for US crude oil bound for Asia, reaching an all-time high of approximately $44.8 million to transport two million barrels from the US Gulf Coast to China.

This sharp increase is attributed to buyers' desperation to secure energy shipments amid disruptions caused by the war in Iran, which broke out in late February.

The cost of shipping US crude to Asia has more than doubled since the outbreak of the conflict, rising from around $17.8 million before the escalation.
