Iran Conflict Drives US Gas Prices to Record High

Rising gas prices in the US have become an increasingly pressing concern for Americans as the conflict in Iran continues to drag on.

The national average price for regular gasoline has climbed to $4.06 a gallon, up nearly 30% from $3.14 a year ago, while diesel has risen even more sharply, from $3.70 to $5.45 a gallon, up about 47%, according to the American Automobile Association.

US Vice President JD Vance acknowledged the economic consequences of the conflict and stated that bringing down oil and gasoline prices was now the priority for Washington's actions in Iran, saying 'that's goal number one, keep oil and gas cheap for Americans all over our country.'

However, oil prices quickly underscored the difficulty of this task as tensions and uncertainty over supplies from the Middle East led to renewed price increases.
