Iran Conflict Puts Global Gas Supplies on Thin Ice

The ongoing conflict in Iran is having a disproportionate impact on natural gas supplies, according to energy analyst Gavin Maguire.

In contrast to oil, which can be easily rerouted and stored, natural gas has fewer options for storage and transportation, making its supply chain more vulnerable to disruptions.

The crisis has led to a surge in gas prices, particularly in Europe and Asia, where benchmarks have risen far more sharply than crude oil since the conflict began.

This is bad timing for gas, as global demand has been growing rapidly due to increased pipeline and storage capacity. However, the supply chain's limitations are making it harder for buyers to access affordable gas supplies.
