Iran Denies Attack on Kharg Island, Blasts Trump's 'Laughable' Claims
The Iranian government has denied reports of an attack on Kharg Island, which is home to the country's main oil hub. According to Hamid Bovard, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, conditions in Kharg are calm and appropriate, despite US President Donald Trump's claim that the island was being destroyed.
Trump had tweeted that the key oil hub was under attack, but Bovard called his claims 'laughable'. The island is responsible for 90% of Iran's oil exports, which has not stopped operations despite repeated bombing by US and Israeli forces in the past.
Oil workers have allowed operations to continue uninterrupted, with contractors currently rebuilding and modernising storage tanks and jetties. Bovard emphasized that even during previous attacks, oil operations had never been halted for a moment.
