Iran Detains Cargo Ship Over Alleged Oil Pollution in Persian Gulf
Iranian authorities have detained a cargo ship in the Persian Gulf over allegations of oil pollution. The vessel, which was carrying sugar, allegedly discharged a mixture of used oil, engine-room bilge water and industrial sludge into the sea on Monday.
The Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Department stated that currents dispersed the pollution into several small slicks, which cleanup teams were able to contain.
