Iran Discovers Huge Natural Gas Field with 7.5 Trillion Cubic Feet
Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad announced on state television that the country has discovered a massive natural gas field in the southern Fars province. The discovery contains over 7.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, with approximately 5.7 trillion cubic feet estimated to be recoverable.
Paknejad compared the size of this new site to South Fars, the largest natural gas field in the world and a shared resource between Iran and Qatar. He stated that the new discovery is equivalent to 15 years of production from one phase of South Fars.
The petroleum ministry plans to develop the newly discovered energy resources as soon as possible. However, actual production remains years away due to technical requirements and infrastructure needs.
