Iran Discovers Massive Gas Field with Billions of Cubic Meters in Reserves
The Iranian government has announced the discovery of a large gas field in the southern province of Fars, boasting reserves of approximately 212 billion cubic meters. Of this amount, around 160 billion cubic meters are estimated to be recoverable.
According to Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad, the new field will serve as a vital resource for Iran's energy future. He stated, 'Huge hydrocarbon reserves have been discovered, which will serve as a very solid foundation for the country's energy future.'
The gas at the new field is characterized as 'dry' or 'sweet', meaning it has a low sulfur content, which can reduce development and operating costs.
Iran's energy sector has suffered significant damage since the outbreak of the war in the Middle East. The country plans to begin developing the field as soon as possible.
