A new natural gas field has been discovered in Iran's southern Fars province, containing over 7.5 trillion cubic feet of gas.

The discovery was announced by Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad on August 23, who said the newly identified reserve could eventually provide Iran with the equivalent of 15 years of production from a single phase of South Pars.

The field also holds gas condensates worth tens of billions of dollars, but extracting and processing this resource will be difficult due to existing damage to Iran's infrastructure.

Paknejad estimated that 72% of the gas could ultimately be extracted, making it a valuable source of revenue for the struggling Islamic regime.
