Iran Discovers Massive Gas Reserve Amid Ongoing Energy Crisis

In the midst of an energy crisis sparked by tensions in West Asia, Iran has made a groundbreaking discovery. The country's oil minister, Mohsen Paknejad, announced that over 7.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas have been found in a new field in the southern province of Fars.

The significant find comes six months into Iran's war with the US and Israel, which has disrupted the country's energy infrastructure and limited its ability to produce and export fuel.

The newly discovered gas is estimated to be 5.7 trillion cubic feet recoverable, a crucial distinction that matters for the economy. Not all molecules of gas found underground can be commercially extracted, as it depends on geology, technology, and economics.

Iran's oil minister noted that the recoverable gas is equivalent to around 15 years of output from one phase of the country's giant South Pars gas field.
