Iran Dismisses CENTCOM Claims on Oil Transport Support

Tehran has denied claims by US Central Command (CENTCOM) that American forces have supported the transport of over 1 billion barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz in recent months.

CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated on Saturday that his forces had assisted in the transit of over 2,000 commercial ships and had supported more than 1 billion barrels of crude oil leaving the Gulf.

In response, Senior spokesman for Iran's armed forces Abolfazl Shekarchi rejected these claims as 'false and ridiculous', describing them as a failed psychological operation to boost US morale in the region.

Shekarchi stressed that the initiative in the Strait of Hormuz remains in the hands of Iran's armed forces, despite the presence of US naval forces imposing an ironclad blockade targeting vessels traveling to or from Iranian ports.
