Iran Dismisses US Claim on Oil Transport Through Strait of Hormuz

Iran's armed forces have rejected claims by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) that American forces supported the transport of over 1 billion barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz in recent months.

Sr. Abolfazl Shekarchi, a senior spokesman for Iran's armed forces, called the claim 'false and ridiculous' and stated it was likely an attempt to boost the morale of US troops and justify their financial costs and casualties in the region.

Shekarchi's statement comes after CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper made the initial claim earlier in the day. Shekarchi characterized Cooper's remarks as a 'projection' aimed at boosting US forces' morale, rather than an accurate assessment of events in the region.
