Iran Expands Blacklist of Ships Trying to Sail Through Strait of Hormuz

Iran has expanded its blacklist of ships trying to sail through the Strait of Hormuz, adding 11 more vessels to the list. This brings the total number of blacklisted tankers to 56, according to the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) website.

The new additions include very large crude carriers, liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas tankers, and clean product vessels, among others.

The PGSA has warned that any vessel cooperating with listed ships through STS oil transfers or transshipment will also be added to the list. Vessels seeking removal from the list must submit a formal application with justifications.

Iran's blacklisting effort is part of its broader efforts to enforce compliance with rules for navigating the Strait of Hormuz, which has seen reduced traffic since the start of the war between Iran and the US-backed coalition.
