Pakistan has secured safe passage for at least one liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment, thanks to a deal negotiated with Iran. The Al Areesh ship, which had been idling in the Persian Gulf since July 1st, transited through the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday with its transponders switched on.

The ship is now signaling Pakistan as its destination, according to ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg. This development comes as part of Pakistan's efforts to ease a deepening energy crunch using its diplomatic ties.
