Iran Grants Iraqi Oil Tankers Passage Through Strait of Hormuz
Iran has granted special clearance to several Iraqi oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, providing some relief for Baghdad's economy. The decision was made after Iraq requested assistance through diplomatic channels.
According to the Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the issue was discussed during his recent visit to Baghdad. Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammad al-Halbousi met with Qalibaf and requested special treatment for Iraqi oil exports through the waterway.
The authorization is crucial for Iraq as oil sales generate nearly 90% of government revenue. Before the conflict disrupted traffic, Iraq produced around four million barrels of crude a day and exported an average of approximately 105 million barrels each month.
